CORPORATE BALANCED SCORECARD Corporate strategy has never been as important as it is today! Yet research shows that most organisations fail to execute strategy successfully. This is because many organisations still continue to use management processes – top down, financially driven, and tactical – that were designed to run yesterday’s organisations. The Balanced Scorecard is used to focus and align business units, human resources, information technology, and financial resources to the organisation’s strategy. A good measurement system is a pre-requisite to successful strategy implementation - “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”. According to Kaplan and Norton, the inventors of Balanced Scorecard (BSC), an organisation’s measurement system strongly affects the behaviour of people both inside and outside the organisation. The Balanced Scorecard retains the financial measurement as a critical summary of managerial and business performance, but it highlights a more general and integrated set of measurements for both tangible and intangible assets, that link current customer, internal processes, employee, and system performance to long-term financial success.
